Cyclone Debbie continues its slow, destructive journey across Queensland's northern coastline.
The storm is lashing the Queensland coast with torrential rain which, when combined with a dangerous storm tide, could cause major flooding, according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
The storm downed trees, stripped buildings and left shorelines swamped after making landfall as a Category 4 storm at midday near Airlie Beach and is expected to continue wreaking havoc for the rest of the week.
Authorities located in the East of Australia’s Queensland has urged residents of several Northern coastal areas to temporarily leave their homes and take refuge from the impending tropical cyclone “Debbie.”
To assist in the evacuation areas to the North of the state capital Brisbane is directed over thousands of rescue workers and military personnel.
