Sulfur Fire, Iraq

The 100 m false-colour image of 16 July 2016 shows us a burning sulfur plant in Mosul, Iraq. The fire has been burning since June 25 2016. It produced a noxious cloud of sulfur-containing gases, that, according to local media reports (obtained through the FBIS), is creating a significant environmental and health hazard. Several people have died as a result of the fumes.
