It is one of the least populous counties in the United States and climate can be characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. Laguna Madre, situated in the middle right of the image is a long shallow, hypersaline algoon along the western coast of the Gulf of Mexico, famous for a plethora of fish species, and home to sea turtles and dolphins.
