Lake Balaton, the largest freshwater lake in central Europe, was completely frozen in the beginning of 2017! PROBA-V spotted the 90 km of 20-30 cm ice on the 21st of January. A unique image as it was already more than 10 years ago the lake completely froze over. Lake Balaton is one of Hungary’s foremost tourist destinations.
