Fitzroy river, Australia

King Sound is the gulf expanding from the mouth of the Fitzroy River. It features one of the largest tidal ranges in the world, reaching values as high as 12 m. The image shows the bay, with the Fitzroy River mouth in the central-lower part. The light-brown and greenish areas at the coast represent deposited sediment stirred up by the tidal turbulence.
