The United Nations Climate Change Conference COP24 will be held from 2 – 14 December in the city of Katowice, southern Poland. The city will be host to about 20,000 participants from 190 countries, from politicians to scientists and business representatives. The conference’s most important goal is to refine and finalize the rules for implementation of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change, of which the first steps were taken last year at COP23 in Bonn, Germany. The final Paris Agreement rulebook should define for the agreeing countries on how to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions and to raise their ambition to keep the global warming well below 2°C by the year 2100.
