This 100 m false-colour image, dated October 6, 2016, shows the north-western part of the mountainous Korean peninsula, with the South Korean capital city of Seoul in the east. The city is bisected by the Han River, which plays an important role in the Korean history, both as trade route towards China, via the Yellow Sea, and for its fertile alluvial banks. Today, the river forms part of the border between North and South Korea and serves as water source for over 12 million people. On one of the larger islands near the coast, inbetween the beautiful sediment flows, we spot the international airport of Incheon (white-blue), the main airport in South Korea that is built on a piece of reclaimed land. A bridge connecting it to the city centre and harbour of Incheon, the second largest harbour in South Korea, is just visible by a thin line.
