The 100 m false-colour image of 16 February 2017 shows us the Kansai region, in the southern-central region of Japan's main island Honshū.
The Kansai region is the cultural and historical heart of Japan.
In the right part we can clearly see the city of Osaka, the capital city of the Osaka Prefecture. The second largest metropolitan area in Japan and among the largest in the world with over 19 million inhabitants.
In the middle, we have the prefecture Hyogo with 2 coastlines on two seas: to the north, the Sea of Japan, to the south, the Seto Inland Sea.
At the left we can see prefecture Okayama, it faces Kagawa Prefecture in Shikoku across the Seto Inland Sea and includes 90 islands in the sea.
